Matthew Lawrence, actor in Mrs. Doubtfire: Bring Robin Williams back through AI

According to CinemaDrame news agency, Matthew Lawrence, who starred in the iconic 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire, told Entertainment Weekly that he sees no issue with the idea of reviving the late Robin Williams through artificial intelligence. He said, “There has to be an AI voice. There has to be a voice of something.”

Williams died by suicide in 2014 at the age of 63, but Lawrence believes his presence should live on through technology: “With respect and permission from his family… I would love to create something special with his voice, because I know that voice is iconic for a generation.”

The 45-year-old actor believes Williams’s voice could one day guide people home in their cars or answer questions currently fielded by Siri. “It would be so cool,” he said. “Believe me!”

Mrs. Doubtfire, directed by Chris Columbus, was produced on a $25 million budget and went on to gross $441 million worldwide. Lawrence portrayed Christopher Hillard, the son of Daniel Hillard (played by Robin Williams) and Miranda Hillard (played by Sally Field).
